Furcacauda was a mysterious jawless fish of the Devonian (385–359 Mya), uniquely adapted to deep waters. Its tall, narrow body with tiny tooth-like scales and distinctive lobed tail provided perfect buoyancy and manoeuvrability. Intriguingly, it possessed a large intestinal chamber—one of the earliest true stomachs among vertebrates.
